We have all been "enjoying" so many events on current and future challenges for procurement law over the last few weeks. My views on alot of core issues have been evolving fast and to try and reflect these changes I have started to work on updating my thoughts on next steps for UK procurement law. My last attempt was in my paper for the Annual Year in Review Conference in Washington DC in February. As it was written over Christmas/New Year to meet a publication timetable it needs some updating to take account of all we have learned and discussed. But for those who are interested, that talk is at https://www.monckton.com/michael-bowsher-qc-spoke-at-the-annual-thomson-reuters-year-in-review-2020-conference-in-washington-dc/
My work on a new attempt piece for this blog has been put back for the moment by the more urgent task of trying to get some evidence in to the Scrutiny Committee dealing with the Trade Bill in Parliament. For those interested in putting in evidence, the link is at https://www.parliament.uk/documents/commons/scrutiny/Trade_PBC%20call%20for%20evidence.pdf. There is a good House of Commons Briefing referenced in the call for evidence.
And for more material on the importance of integrity in procurement I will be studying this important report, with volumnious annexes, which has just come out. I will try to comment on this in another entry as well: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-advice-to-help-councils-fight-procurement-fraud
So there's alot to think about in UK public procurement law. Watch this Space!
